Updated 07/07/2026 | Published 06/29/2026

Question:

Victron MPPT We own a 2020 NuCamp T@G trailer. The following items came with the trailer when purchased: • 100w Solar Panel mounted on the roof • Victron MPPT 75/10 charge controller We replaced the original battery with a Lion Energy UT 1300 lithium battery 1344wh, 105 amp hours, 12.8v. We also have a Victron SmartShunt Recently we purchased a Jackery Solar Saga 200w solar panel. We are planning to add another MPPT and SAE port to charge the trailer so we will have more charging flexibility when boondocking. Now to the question… What Victron MPPT would work for this application? Thanks

Hi Dale,

I reached out to Victron directly to make sure I got the perfect recommendation for your system. They advised that you use the Victron SmartSolar 100/30 MPPT Solar Charge Controller part # VN62VR. The # VN62VR is capable of handling two 200W panels, so you can upgrade in the future if needed. It will support lithium and lead-acid batteries, has a safety shield and adaptive charging to prevent overcharged batteries or damage, and its built-in Bluetooth enables it to be set up in the VictronConnect app for monitoring.

Do you mostly like to camp off grid with your NuCamp?

Thank you for your help. We enjoy camping in National Parks and we plan to do more off grid camping in the Pacific Northwest in the near future.

@DaleM I haven't been to the Pacific Northwest yet, but from what I've heard it's just amazing scenery out there. I hope you guys enjoy and that your new solar set up works well for you!
