Is The Deka Primary Wire Heat-Shrinkable Tubing DW05451 Marine Grade?

Updated 07/01/2026 | Published 06/27/2026

Question:

Is the shrink tubing you have Marine Grade shrink tubing? It has an adhesive/glue inside that when sized with the proper size wire should provide a water proof connection. Thanks

Hey Larry, thanks for reaching out. No, the Deka Primary Wire Heat-Shrinkable Tubing # DW05451 is not considered marine grade. It's more of a general-purpose heat shrink intended to be used on trailers. It does not have an adhesive-lined interior to create a waterproof seal.

If you plan to do some wiring on a boat or other marine application, you'll want to get your hands on something marine grade. We don't carry anything like that here though.

What are you sealing? Boat lights, bilge wiring, or another wet-area circuit?
