Will The Kwikee 24 Series RV Step Work With "A" Linkage Gearbox?

Updated 06/19/2026 | Published 06/13/2026

Question:

Do these steps work with a Lippert Kwikee A Linkage Gearbox for Electric Steps? I am looking to replace the 2-step Kwikee system on my 2015 Tiffin Allegro 36LA.

Hey Don, thanks for reaching out. Yes, if your existing Kwikee "A" linkage gearbox is in good working condition, it can be used with the Kwikee 24 Series steps # LC375821. The 24 Series uses the same basic linkage and drive design, and the "A" linkage gearbox is a common component used across multiple Kwikee step applications.

That said, before ordering, I'd want to verify exactly which Kwikee step assembly is currently on your 2015 Tiffin Allegro 36LA. While the gearbox itself is compatible, confirming the step series and mounting dimensions will ensure the replacement goes as smoothly as possible. The # LC375821 step uses a 29-3/4" x 11-3/8" mounting plate.

Are you replacing the steps because of frame damage, worn treads, or a failed motor/linkage?

Don I replaced the 2 step version with the 30” steps. Did it myself with floor jack a a 4x4. Job went well. It took longer to get the old ones off because of rusty hardware. New one went in perfectly. If you had another person helping would make it easier. Best upgrade I’ve done on my motorhome go for it you won’t regret it

@JeffM Thanks for the review, Jeff. Glad to hear the new steps went in well and were worth the upgrade. Rusty hardware always seems to be the hardest part of these jobs.

I have a 2014 36la. Replaced 2 step with a 3. Awesome! How ever you can run into a situation where the ground is not level and the step will run into the ground and stick. So when you start the motor it will not retract by itself.

@Ah21w Thanks for the review. Glad to hear the 3-step upgrade worked out for your 36LA. That's a good point about uneven campsites too, the extra step can get close to the ground in some situations, so it's worth keeping an eye on clearance before extending or retracting the steps.

Yes, those measurements match. Also, the steps themselves are 30" wide with 8" rise. We are considering replacing as the first step is typically quite a bit high once the coach is leveled. A third step should still be above ground even on a level site. Not sure we'll spend the $ but I wanted to know if it worked. I would prefer to find a salvage set, but am not finding anything reasonable. A seller on ebay has one for $900 which seems high for used w/unknown motor condition when compared to $1335 for new.
