Hey Greg! For a hitch I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14012. This will fit your 2026 Ford Transit T250 as long as it is a cargo van or passenger wagon model, and has a bolt-on installation. It is a Class IV, which is what you need to be able to tow 8,000 lbs without the use of a weight distribution hitch.
For wiring, you need to start by adding a 4-way with the Curt # C59236. Then you can upgrade to a 7-way using the # ETBC7. This comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else required for installation.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. This proportional brake controller is simple, reliable, and won't take up space in the cab. The main unit installs behind the dash with only the control knob visible. The knob controls the braking power and acts as the manual override.

I have installed and then used the Redarc Tow- Pro Liberty brake controller for about 18 months. Installation was easy and the instructions were clear. The controller works great and the control over the brakes is very good and has been consistent every time I make an adjustment. Since the only component to require dash space is the control knob, there is minimal disruption to the dash. I would recommend this controller and feel experienced through lots of set-ups, I would buy again when I trade vehicles! Tim
