Question:

I have an anderson 5th wheel hitch that hooked to my goose neck ball, I now got a flatbed with a recessed ball, is there an adaptor that can make my hitch still work with this?

Hi Daren,

Unfortunately, Andersen does not offer an adapter that allows their Ultimate Connection 5th wheel hitch to work with a recessed gooseneck ball setup. Because of the way the Andersen base mounts and loads the ball, a recessed ball can create clearance and geometry issues that the hitch was not designed around.

If you're looking to continue towing your 5th wheel with the new flatbed, I would recommend switching to a hitch specifically designed for this application. The Demco Recon Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550046 is designed for flatbed truck beds with a 2-5/16" recessed gooseneck hitch ball. If your flatbed is aluminum, the Demco Recon for Aluminum Beds # DM93YV is the better choice and is also designed for flatbed truck beds with a 2-5/16" recessed gooseneck hitch ball. Both options are purpose-built for recessed-ball flatbeds and eliminate the guesswork of trying to make an incompatible setup work.

Out of curiosity, what led you to the flatbed setup? Was it for work hauling, ranch chores, or just having more room for toys and equipment?
