Question:
How does this compare to the Curt Helux? Does it dampen the shock from rough roads better than the Helux?

Hey Chris. The B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # BW55RV uses a rubber SumoSpring to absorb road shock while also reducing chucking and jarring. It has dual axis cushioning which not only absorbs up and down movement but also front to back movement. The Curt Helux item # C44HB only helps with the up and down movement or chucking. It doesn't address the push pull feeling.
The B&W 5th item # BW55RV going to handle those road bumps and bridge transitions before they get transferred to your truck making for a more comfortable ride. Plus the SumoSpring is completely maintenance free.
As far as actually being better than the Curt Helux item # C44HB for handling bumps, we don't know yet because they haven't been released. They're pretty comparable features wise and both fit a Curt or Lippert Rhino pin box. The Helux just uses a coil spring and shocks instead of the progressive rate SumoSpring.
Both the B&W item # BW55RV and the Curt Helux item # C44HB feature an auto-latching coupler for easy hooking up, along with an external cable release so you don't have to climb into the truck bed to disconnect it. They each include the required safety chains and the necessary mounting hardware.
