Is There An Issue With Putting Larger AC Unit In Smaller RV ? Furrion Chill Cube 18K BTU

Question:
Hello! I have a 2025 Keystone Passport 221BH, I am curious what is the smallest an RV can be for the Chill Cube. My concern is short cycling the compressor with the 18k BTUs in an RV that has a 15k which does short cycle at times depending on dew point and set temp.

Hey James!
I wouldn't worry about that because there are no rules or regulations for putting too big of an AC unit on a mid-sized camper. And I know your current one short cycles like you said, but the newer Furrion Chill Cube units are extremely efficient with their variable speed compressor; this is a huge benefit over other standard ac units. This will do a great job of keeping the camper cool without working it too hard.
I see you were looking at the Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - 18,000 Btu # FR49TD. This would work well as long as your RV is ducted (air vents go out through the ceiling). This includes everything all in one kit, so you'll be good to go!

Since installing the new unit, I haven't had any issues with short cycling, and even if it does, because of the variable speed DC brushless motors, you do not realize when it ramps up and down. What a difference from our old coleman mach 15. The unit is so much quieter and blows much colder air. My only issue was trying to wire the thermostat into my existing furnace. I had to call Lippert to get a different wiring diagram to make work. I just wish they would have given that wiring diagram from the start.
