That said, it is very important to follow the roof weight capacity listed by Chevrolet in your owner’s manual, since the vehicle manufacturer’s rating should always take priority if it is lower than the roof rack capacity.

With rooftop tent setups, the total traveling weight is what matters most. That includes the weight of the crossbars, the rooftop tent itself, and any gear or bedding stored inside while driving. A lot of rooftop tents list very high static capacities for when the vehicle is parked, but the actual tent weight can vary quite a bit from one model to another.
