Which B and W Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter for 2025 KZ Durango Gold 358RPQ

Updated 05/18/2026 | Published 05/14/2026

Question:

I am looking at the new BandW fifth wheel to gooseneck replacement pinbox. I have a 2025 KZ Durango Gold 358RPQ that has a GVWR of 14,995 pounds. Using your calculations of 14,995x.22 would exceed the 3250 pounds of the BW73RV and I should use the BW83RV. Is this correct? I want to make sure I order the correct pin box.

Hey Russel, so fifth wheel pin weight is generally between 15 and 25 percent of the total weight of the trailer as it sits ready to tow. This is different than the GVWR that you mentioned as that number is the total amount the trailer can weigh at max. So most likely the part # BW73RV would be your best option as if you use 20 percent of the GVWR you end up at 3,000 lbs which is under max rating of the # BW73RV plus fact you are most likely not going to be at the very max your trailer can weigh as that's not common. Do you know about how much the camper weighs when ready to tow?

I don't know the actual pin weight. I am going to weight it at the Cat scales next week when I load it for our next camping trip. I watched the video with the B&W engineers and when they were asked about a camper with a pin weight of 3300-3500 pounds, they said they would recommend the BW73RV as the BW83RV is rated for 3250-4500, it would be a very stiff ride. I'm going to order the BW73RV as soon as I pick up my new truck in 4-6 weeks. I currently have a standard bed and can't switch to a Gooseneck until I get the new long bed.

@Russell if you can put your rear axle alone on the scales and then rear axle alone along with trailer connected you'd be able to calculate your pin weight as well.
