Looking For New Shackle Bolts For 2022 Gulf Stream Vintage Cruiser 19RBS

Updated 05/20/2026 | Published 05/14/2026

Question:

I ordered the 4 leaf double eyed spring for my trailer, but forgot to order new shackle bolts. Would you know which one that I need to order, or do I just measure and order by the length because the diameter is the same?

Hey Jeffrey, welcome back. For a double eye-spring setup, the bolt length and diameter are standard. The thing is, if you are replacing your bolts, its best to replace the shackle links at the same time, and those are not always a standard size. They are usually either 2-1/4" long hole to hole, or 3-1/8" long but that is definitely something you'll want to measure and verify.

What I typically recommend are the MORryde shackle kits. They come with 1/2" thick HD shackles, wet bolts and bronze bushings. Definitely a worthwhile suspension upgrade and for a good price too. They will help smooth out and quiet down the suspension, and they'll last a really long time too. Just double check your stock shackle length and select from the following:

- MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps # MR46ZR

- MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3-1/8" Long Shackle Straps # MR76ZR

Just keep in mind you'll need to remove the nylon bushings that came with your leaf springs and replace them with the bronze bushings that come with the kit. Keep the wet bolts greased and they can easily last the life of the trailer.

Hey Jeffrey4 I purchased the MORryde suspension upgrade kit for my 31 foot travel trailer. Best investment I made. I love the wet bolt system that I installed. I just simply grease the bolts every season. no more worries about rusting in out. We traveled from Nashville TN to Pensacola Beach Fla last fall and the system does a wonderful job. Didn't have to worry about the bounce or finding things on the floor either. Everything stayed in placed. I am very happy that I installed it. If you plan to install it. Its very easy and simple. @Rick That's great, Rick. Glad to hear the MORryde kit has been working so well for you. Keep them greased and they will last a very long time. We go to Pensacola almost every summer too. Love it down there. We are heading these in July. Very hot but always a good time. Great fishing too!

I installed the moryde with wet shackles. Self installed (ok with help from my son). This was on 2023 grand design 2600rb. Original plastic sleeves were wornout pretty well. After a trip to Colorado through Oklahoma wanted smoother ride. Oklahoma city has the worst roads i think in Oklahoma. Everything bounced, pocket doors off their rails.... Did the update for smoother ride of the trailer. Went camping around queen wilhemmena. On way home followed a towed vehicle. Watched it bounce at bridges (you know how bad the transition is). Our trailer was very smooth. Wet bolts are easy to add grease (i think next time I would have grease fitting to inside instead of contending with tire clearance. Yes I would buy again

@JimT Thanks for the great write-up, Jim! Sounds like the MORryde setup and wet shackles made a huge difference, especially on those rough Oklahoma roads and bridge transitions. Really appreciate the install tips too, and I'm glad to hear the trailer is riding smoother and everything inside is staying put now!
