Best Step Options for 2026 Ford Transit Sliding Door Entry

Updated 04/24/2026 | Published 04/21/2026

Question:

Hello - I have a 2026 Ford Transit 250 Cargo Van with a high roof and am looking for fold out steps that are stored inside the sliding door during travel and rest on the ground during use. Are any of your steps compatible with my vehicle? Thanks in advance - Maggie

Hi Maggie, that’s a great idea and I can see exactly what you’re going for, but we don’t currently carry a step that mounts in the sliding door and folds up inside the van for a Transit.

The closest option we offer that works well with your van is the Carr Hide-A-Step part # CAR63XR, which mounts underneath the side door and deploys with a tap of your foot. It doesn’t store inside the van, but it tucks up under the vehicle so it stays out of the way during travel and won’t interfere with your sliding door.

I know one of the big concerns with vans like yours is avoiding anything that requires cutting or ends up blocking the door, and this style keeps everything outside and uses the frame for support, which makes it a much cleaner and safer install. There are a few specialty companies out there that make interior-stowing steps, like National Fleet, but those are more custom-fit solutions and not something we carry at this time.

If you’re open to something that stays mounted underneath, this is going to be the most straightforward and reliable way to get a solid step without modifying your van. How do you typically use your Transit, more for work or trips, so we can make sure the step setup fits your day-to-day use?
