Hey Bob, yes the ActiveStart Plug-In Soft Start for Vans & Overlanding # AS37FR that you referenced will work great with an 8k BTU rated window AC unit. It will do a great job reducing that initial amperage draw on the power system when the unit kicks on. Is the AC unit in a camper?

Thanks for the quick reply. No, it's for a window AC I use when we lose power to hurricanes for days at a time down here in Tampa. I'm using a Honda eu6500is, which works fabulously with a transfer switch to my house. I also have an extended run kit with fuel pump and external 14 gallon tank. I shut it down over night and want to use a smaller generator AC over night to conserve fuel and have it closer to me where I can get to it fast, if need be.. The eu6500 is on the other side of the house and if something serious were to go wrong I may not be able to get to it in time if I'm sleeping. Thanks again for the quick reply!
