Get soft start performance for your small camper, van, or overlanding rig. Enjoy smoother, quieter startups that ease the load on, and let you use a lower-wattage generator to power your fridge, water pump, and other appliances.
For overlanders and small trailer owners, Soft start reduces high startup amps so lower-wattage generators can power fridges, water pumps, and other essentials without needing a larger unit. By softening the initial surge, this ensures your appliances run more smoothly and efficiently and it preserves the life of your generator while also saving fuel. And because it just plugs in, the setup is super simple!
To get the best performance, be sure your generator can handle the startup load. 13,500 BTU AC units need at least 2,300 watts, and 15,000 BTU units need 2,500 watts. This unit has built-in surge protection that shields your electronics from dangerous voltage spikes with 2,100 joules of defense.
With built-in Bluetooth and a smartphone app, you can monitor startup performance, receive fault alerts, and check your power status all from your phone.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Active Controls ActiveStart plugin soft start with 90 degree plug. Now, this is going to give you 20 amp soft start performance for your small trailer or overlanding rig, and you're gonna be able to enjoy smoother, quieter startups that ease the load on fridges, water pumps, and other appliances. So lower wattage generators can easily power those items without needing a larger unit. By softening the initial surge, this is going to ensure that your appliances run more smoothly and efficiently, preserving the generator's life and saving fuel.
States here that this is going to reduce startup amps by 50%, just to kind of give you an idea. And this is also going to give you 2,100 joule surge protection to guard your electronics against power surges. So you're just gonna plug this into the power pedestal, or your home outlet for a quick and easy setup. And again, this is a 90 degree plug as you can see. And then, you're gonna also be able to monitor your system easily with an app that you can download for free depending on which type of smartphone you have.
So depending, whichever smartphone that you have, you're just gonna scan the related QR code that's gonna take you to the app in that app store, that's gonna be a free download so you can keep an eye on everything. So again, the built-in surge protection is a great benefit to this. It includes everything that you see here along with instructions. And then, you might be wondering about some measurements here. So, looking at the overall length end-to-end, I know you can't see this here, but we're sitting right at about 17 and 1/4 inches long end-to-end.
And then the unit, the width of the unit is gonna be right at about, oh, I'm gonna call it at three and 1/2 inches. That's the width, the length, about four and 1/2 inches, the depth, about two and 1/8 inches or so. But if you find out that this is going to be exactly what you need, and once you get it installed, we would love to see some photos of this installed and to hear about how you're using it, what type of trailer, things like that. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.
Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
Works great
