Video Transcript for Valterra Waste Valve Body w/ Flexible Cable for RV Black Water Tank Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Valtera waste valve body with the 72" long flexible cable extension for your RV black water tank. This is a replacement valve for your RV's black water tank. This will convert your hard to access valve handle to a nice simple push pull placement. The 3" diameter passage right here allows your waste water to travel freely when the valve is open. You can see that'll open the well and that'll close it. Your cable will attach right here to be able to open that valve. The 72" long flexible cable, this is what'll let you install your valve handle where you want it. Cable allows the valve to be placed in a nice secure location, or very easy to reach place.

This cable can be cut down to fit your application. The inner wire on this is constructed of stainless steel. This part will include everything laid out here on the table. The valve body itself, the flexible cable, the cable mounting bracket, the two seals, the nuts and bolts are all included to install it.Basically, to install this, you'll remove the broken waste valve on your RV and then what you'll do. And remove the old seals also. Then you'll take this and place the new valve body in place of that.

Include the new seals. One on each side just like that on the flange fittings. Then position your valve body where it needs be.Then once you get it all installed, and your handle where you want it, use all the hardware and tighten all the hardware down to complete your installation. But that should do it for the review on the Valtera waste valve body with the 72" flexible cable extension for your RV black water tank.

  • Can The Valterra Waste Valve Body w/ Flexible Cable # VAL54MB Be Trimmed To Custom Length?
Hello Pete, thanks for reaching out. The Valterra Waste Valve Body w/ Flexible Cable # VAL54MB comes pre-assembled so it would not be recommended to cut this. A better option would be Valterra Waste Valve Body w/ Flexible Cable # TC372. This has a 72" cable and comes disassembled so it would be easy to trip the cable down to size before you assemble it. How long of a cable are you thinking you need?

The length of the Valterra Waste Valve front to back part # T1001C is 4-1/2" long. It measures vertically 8-3/4" with the valve open and 6-3/4" with the valve closed. I have attached a diagram for your reference so you can compare to the area that you have. You may be interetested in the Valterra Waste Valve Body w/ Flexible Cable for RV Black Water Tank part # TC372 the flexible cable included makes it easier to use the valve when you have a hard to reach installation area.

  • Do Replacement LaSalle Bristol Waste Valves Come W/ a Threaded End for Attaching a Cable
Bill, LaSalle Bristol doesn't make it so you can replace much on their cable actuated waste valves besides the handle, so you'd be better off just replacing the entire valve and cable system with the Valterra Waste Valve Body w/ Flexible Cable for RV Black Water Tank # TC372.

  • Recommended Replacement For A Broken LaSalle Bristol Cable Actuated Waste Valve
LaSalle Bristol doesn't make it so that you can replace much on their cable actuated waste valves besides just the handle so you would be better off just replacing the entire valve and cable system with Valterra's Black # TC372 and Gray # TC172. The old valves can just be unbolted and replaced with the new Valterra valves so that you don't have to cut any pipe or glue anything in. Valterra's cable system has a little rod at the end that clamps into an exposed port on the valve to easily...

  • Replacement RV Dump Valve To Be Used With Cable System On 2015 Dynamax REV RB
The Valterra RV Waste Valve Body with Coupler, Seals, and Hardware - 3" # T1003PBC will work with your Bristol cable system. It will function very much like the complete Valterra Flexible Cable Kit - 3" Valve - 72" # TC372 that has the cables included. As long as you have the cable and housing for the valve, the # T1003PBC will work great as a replacement on your 2015 Dynamax REV RB with Bristol cable RV Dump valves.

  • Will Valterra Cable Work on a Bristol Dump Valve
I spoke with my contact at Valterra who said that the Valterra Waste Valve Body # TC372 would be able to replace the Bristol Valve body that you currently have installed but that they haven't tested their cable kits like part # TC72PB with Bristol Valve so she wouldn't be able to confirm whether or not it would fit.

  • Troubleshooting A LaSalle Bristol Cable Actuated Gate Valve That Isnt Opening The Gate
Unfortunately LaSalle Bristol completely covers the connection point in plastic so the only way to gain access to gate inside the LaSalle Bristol Cable-Actuated RV Waste Valve # 34466N4BB96GM would be to cut into the plastic for the cord and physically pull the gate up. You'll have to replace the gate valve once you're done draining the tank so I recommend going with a Valterra valve since they leave the connection point open for access. We have the following cable lengths for a 3" Valterra...

  • Comparing Valterra And LaSalle Bristol Cable Actuated Gate Valves
The gasket is the portion of the gate valve that's allowing waste water to leak through and not actually the gate. Both companies are using a rubber gasket that will eventually fail so it really comes down to the other features of the gate valve to determine which you'd prefer. LaSalle Bristol's cable actuated gate valves don't allow you to replace the cable if there was ever an issue, whereas Valterra's do come apart and will allow you to replace components without having to replace the...

  • Does Valterra Waste Valve Require Lubricant on Blade/Seal
The Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank - 3" Diameter # TC372 does not require any lubricating of the rubber seals. I do know that some people choose to add silicone plumbers grease to the seals because they believe it helps the seals to last longer, but it is not required and also is not included in the kit.

  • Measurements of Valterra Waste Valves
For the Valterra # TC372 the bolt pattern is 3-3/4", and the overall length, minus the protrusion, is 13-7/8". I have attached dimensional drawings to illustrate this and provide some additional measurements.

  • Troubleshooting A Cable Actuated Gate Valve That Won't Fully Close The Gate
You'll definitely need to straighten that line out otherwise you'll keep having issues with cable not wanting to fully close the gate. You can remove the four bolts that mount the gate valve to the pipe and see if turning it 90 degrees and re-bolting it in place helps give you a straighter path. If not you would need to cut off the flanges and glue new ones in place at an angle that would allow the gat valve to be mount where the cable can sit straight. With it being at that angle it...

  • Replacement Cable Actuated Waste Valve Options For A 2011 Keystone Montana High Country 5th Wheel
Determining the correct replacement for your old waste valves is going to depend on the brand and length of your current cables. If you have Valterra branded valves you could reuse the cables you have and avoid rerouting new cables. You could simply pick the least costly option for the black # TC372 and gray # TC172 valves and just hang onto the new cables. You can remove the four bolts holding your old valves in place and then swap in the new valves so you can void having to cut or glue...

  • Replacing a Bristol Waste Valve With a Valterra Waste Valve
Plumbing parts are interchangeable on RV's just as long as the fittings are the correct size. I couldn't find that exact part number but I believe I have found the Valterra equivalent. If the Bristol valve you are talking about uses the flexible cable then you can use the Valterra Flexible Cable Kit # TC172 which has a 1-1/2 inch valve or the Valterra Flexible Cable Kit # TC372 which has a 3 inch valve.

  • Can Cable of Valterra Waste Valve Body with Flexible Cable TC372 Be Shortened

  • Can Cable be Replaced while Valve is Shut Using Valterra Flexible Cable Kit TC372
Yes, you could actually replace just the cable without having to remove the whole valve depending on the design of the valve. Take a look at the picture I have included. You can see that the cable is secured to the valve using a set screw. So you would loosen that, pull out the old cable, put in the new one, and tighten the set screw back down. If your valve is set up the same way then it can be done.

We had one customer try to cut the cable of the LaSalle valve # 34466N4AB36GM and they said they weren't able to reassemble the cable after doing so as the set screw wouldn't get tight enough so I would not recommend this valve if your plan is to cut it.
