Question:

How do you remove the spool to install mounting bolts? Do you sell replacement axles with threaded end and nut retainer to make removing the spool easier? I like to be able to apply grease to the axle periodically.

Hi Alex,

To remove the spool so you can install mounting bolts all you have to do is remove the pal nut, pull out the pin, and then remove the roller. Once you've installed the bracket, reinstall the pin and roller with the pal nut/cap nut. If you're careful the cap nut won't be damaged, however, if the cap nut gets damaged in this process you can use the Replacement Cap Nut 5/8" part # CE10801 to replace it. Depending on the angle you're installing the unit at, it is possible to install the bracket without removing the roller too.

If you're looking for a replacement marine trailer axle, we'll need to know the length and weight capacity of the axle to find you a proper replacement. We do carry a Replacement Nut Retainer part # 6-190 that is a standard one-inch retainer that will fit the end of most axles in place of the spindle nut that usually comes with them. This would allow you to more easily remove the hubs to grease the axle.
