Question:
Will the convert-a-ball Interchangeable work with the Gen-Y Ball Mount?

Hey Martin, Gen-Y says the ball mount # GY27VR you were looking at is "Only recommended to be used with Gen-Y Hitch towing attachments."
While it does have the common 2" receiver opening and you probably COULD put a 2" ball mount from a different brand in there, such as the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC4. But as I said, it's not recommended. It also would add lots of ball mount length and leverage which would decrease your tongue weight similar to how a hitch extender already cuts it down to 50%.
What exactly are you trying to do? Get a ball mount that has a cushioning feature? If so, I'd check out the Gen-Y Voyager Torsion-Flex 1-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7K Towing - 700-lb Tongue # GY32JJ. It's designed specifically for that and you know it'll be top notch quality and comfort since it's Gen-Y.

What I'm trying to do is use the "Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set - 3 Balls - 1" Shank - Stainless - 902B", with a type of ball mount that would give me the adjustability (up and down/ drop and rise). It has to have a 7,000 to 10,000 lb rating. My Lance trailer is around 5,000 loaded. I also have 4 other trailers, and the simplicity of changing out the balls makes the covert-a-ball perfect for me. In addition, the trailers have different heights, hence the drop and rise requirement. Thank You, Andrew
