Question:

Hello, planning to purchase a Weigh Safe True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch - 2 Shank - 6 - 12.5K GTW, 1.2K TW in the next few days. Curious if you sell a locking ball retaining pin for that Weigh Safe hitch? Thank you....

Hey Mark! Weigh Safe does not offer a locking pin for the True Tow # WS94RR hitch ball. I'm sure the thinking behind it is that you're either towing with a trailer hooked up so the ball can't be removed, or you aren't towing and store the True Tow head and shank in the trailer or vehicle.

The pin does screw in in addition to the retaining clip so it wouldn't be quite as simple as pulling the pin and walking off with the ball if someone really wanted to take it. The only way to be sure nobody takes it would be to either stow the head like I said or unscrew the pin and remove the ball.

What kind of trailer are you towing?

Thank you, towing an equipment trailer. Did not realize the ball screws in also, with the coupler locked, it will make theft a challenge.

@MarkB I didn't realize it either until I looked. Usually the hitch ball is torqued down to a point nobody could realistically remove it so I thought there must be more than that clip holding it in place. I agree, that is enough of a hassle that they won't bother trying to take it.
