Question:

I purchased a hitch from you for a 2018 Tiguan and it fit my 2020 as well. It should fit my recently purchased 2024 VW Tiguan S but I will need a hardware kit bolts and fish wires do you have a specific part so I can order separately from the hitch that I removed from previous vehicles. Another option would be to order a new hitch that has better clearance for that vehicle…?

Hey David, welcome back and congrats on the new SUV! You are correct the Curt Hitch item # C13381 you purchased back in 2020 does indeed fit your new 2024 VW Tiguan.

The Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches item # RHK is going to get you set up with all new bolts, spacers, nuts, and includes the necessary fish wire tools for routing those bolts through your VW's frame. You'll want to input C13381 where it says Hitch Item Number on the item # RHK product page.

I linked an installation video below we made installing the Curt item # C13381 to help you get it reinstalled. You'll want to torque all the bolts to 45 ft-lbs.

I do have an option to add a hitch with better ground clearance to your Tiguan. It's the EcoHitch item # 306-X7395. The top of the receiver sits right at 15" above the ground compared to the Curt item # C13381, which we measured at 12".

Thanks for the help! The hitch was installed for towing our teardrop trailer we frequently tow between WI and the Adirondacks. Our primary clearance issue is our steep urban driveway on a street with considerable crown. Rarely did we have clearance issues at state parks. Trailer is 950# empty. It’s probably logged 20k miles behind 2 different Tiguan 4Motions with no problems. Our towing mileage rarely dips below 20mpg.

@DavidB You're welcome! That sounds like a fun drive and that's some great gas milage will towing. The EcoHitch item # 306-X7395 will definitely help you with the driveway clearance.
