Brakes for LCI35 Axle

Updated 03/23/2026 | Published 03/20/2026

Question:

Current camper axle is LCI35-SB-86.5-68.5-NOSP-US-L-545-7242-GAWR3000 Looking for brakes for this. I believe the item is Part Number: K23-472-473-00 but want to confirm. Why is buying the right and left unit individually cheaper than buying the set? As an option, Im also considering replacing the entire axle with a 3500 rating. I know that does not increase my campers capacity, but repair parts are much more common and cheaper in the future. Do you have an axle that fits?

Hey Rob! Do you have 10" x 1-1/2" brakes and drums right now? The LCI35 typically indicates that it is built on a 3,500 lb axle but with a 3k rating. I expect that to have the standard #84 spindle already so 3,500 lb axle parts will fit.

If your hub/drum assembly is 10" x 2-1/4" you can use the # AKEBRK-35-SA or for Dexter # 23-468-469. I recommend these self-adjusting brakes over manual adjust. If you have a smaller drum check out the bearings. If you have # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearings with # RG06-050 (10-19) grease seals then you can swap the hubs for # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K so you can use the more common brakes.

If you don't want to pull everything apart and check I can have Lippert identify the parts on Monday when they're back in the office. They may not be able to get the information off of the axle information you gave me so if you can provide the serial number that would be best.

@Rob I just checked with Lippert and that matches a standard 3,500 lb axle with the 3k rating. The brakes and hubs listed above will fit so you don't need to swap out the axle to use more common parts.
