Question:
Hello, I have 2k axles with BT8 spindles with both inner and outer bearings L44643, bearing races L44610. It’s an older style hub 4x4inch requiring ½-20 standard 60 degree lug BOLTS to hold the wheels on, rather than nuts on studs coming out of the hub. I’m interested in knowing if Kenda KR25 Radial Trailer Tire with 12inch Aluminum HWT Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range D Part Number: AM31208HWT would work with standard length BOLTS with the 60 degree heads or not. The internal sleeve on this wheel looks much deeper than a typical steel wheel. Also if I get these aluminum wheels, what is the torque spec with the steel bolts on this aluminum wheel? Thanks !

Hey Bruce, thanks for the information. The Kenda KR25 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum HWT Wheel item # AM31208HWT will indeed work with lug bolts. However, they must be 1/2-20 60-degree conical cone seat lug bolts not the standard ½-20 standard 60 degree lug bolts you currently have. You'll need to source these elsewhere as we do not carry them. They'll need to be torqued to 75-85 ft-lbs.
Another option since you were kind enough to provide your spindle info, is to replace your hubs with ones that have lug studs and include the correct cone lug nuts. We have the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles item # AKIHUB-440-2-1K that come greased up and ready to be installed on your BT8 spindles.
