Question:

I have a 2005 Itasca Cambria and cannot find an electric brake controller for that model. The RV has been modified to tow up to 8500 pounds and has a 7-pin connector installed, but no electric brake controller. What would you recommend?

Hey Jack!

One of the easiest controllers to install, especially for an RV, is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty. The only thing visible on your dash is going to be the control knob. If the 7-way was a factory plug then you want to get part # RED96CR. It comes with a custom harness to plug in to a harness that will be under your dash. I included a picture that shows different locations but the plug on your RV would be in location "B".

Now, if the 7-way was installed at a later date and isn't factory, then you want to get part # RED24FR, which is the brake controller itself, and part # RED69FR, which is the universal harness that would need to be spliced into the RV's wiring.

I also included a picture a fellow RV owner sent us showing where they mounted their knob. Kind of an unique location but very accessible.

What other projects do you have lined up for your camper? Sounds like you're getting ready for some fun adventures!
