I Currently have the Interstate SRM-24 Batteries in Parallel, What Batteries Should I Get?

Updated 02/24/2026 | Published 02/20/2026

Question:

i have a 2022 imagine xls17mke, 2 original interstate srm-24 batteries in parallel, connected to the 165W solar panel. After 4 years i was thinking of replacing the batteries. Should I get the same SRM-24 or the newer 24M-EFB? Longest we boondock is 3 days. The newer EFB is maintenance free maybe thats a plus

Hello Scott,

Great question. Since you’re currently running two Interstate SRM-24 batteries in parallel, the 24M-EFB would be a nice direct replacement. It’s still a Group 24 battery, but it’s maintenance-free and generally offers better cycle life than the standard flooded SRM-24. If you’re looking for a simple swap with less upkeep, that’s a solid choice.

That said, since you’re already replacing them, this is also a great opportunity to consider upgrading to lithium. A battery I really like for your setup is the Go Power Sun Cycle Advanced Lithium RV Battery – LiFePO4 – Bluetooth – Group 24 – 12V – 100Ah # GP99QR. It’s a true Group 24 size, so it fits in the same footprint, but it gives you much more usable capacity than lead-acid batteries because you can safely discharge it much deeper without damaging it. That’s a big advantage for your 3-day boondocking trips.

Lithium batteries also recharge faster from your 165W solar panel, weigh less, require zero maintenance, and offer a significantly longer cycle life. On top of that, Go Power backs this battery with an awesome 10-year warranty, which adds great long-term value and peace of mind.

You will need to check to make sure your solar controller and converter are compatible with lithium, if you decide to make the swap, send me over the model numbers I am happy to check to see if they will be compatible.

Where has been your favorite adventure Boondocking? I feel like the people that Boondock always find the greatest views!
