Are Carr LD Custom Fit Side Steps # CARR113331 Frame Or Rocker Panel Mounted

Question:

I bought these over a year ago. I took them to a garage to be mounted and was told they are simply mounted to the exterior not the frame. Advised they will rust out in no time. Can they be mounted to the frame using a different bracket?

Hey Therese, the Carr LD Custom Fit Side Steps # CARR113331 that you referenced are designed to attach to the rocker panels of the vehicle and not to the frame. A frame mount would be ideal but typically the frame is far enough from where you'd want to have these mounted it's just not practical. In fact most side steps nowadays all attach to the rocker panels and not the frame so I don't think you'll find an alternative that does frame mount without serious modifications.
