Is There Anti Rattle Device System that Can be Used with Weight Distribution Shanks

Question:

Am I correct that I can’t use this with the head for my Equalizer E4 hitch?

Hey Greg, we have anti-rattle devices that can be used with weight distribution shanks but the etrailer part # e38FV cannot be used with them. Instead you'd want the part # BX88224 which can be used with WD systems. Are you sure the sound you are hearing is from the shank of the WD to the hitch tube though? A lot of times there's too much spring bar tension to allow for any movement between those two components.

Definitely from play in the receiver. The shank of the hitch head is loose up and down plus side to side if I just grab it and move it.

@Greg but with the spring bar tension applied when you are towing it should hold it pretty tight. But if you drive around with just the shank in your hitch and not towing I could see how it would be annoying!

@Greg I have a MiniLite 2511S and use the E4 Equalizer hitch. I also had side to side and up and down play in my receiver socket. I pull with a F150 with Eco Boost 3.5l. I could feel side to side wobble with my 1/2 ton suspension. Tried the Etrailer anti rattle clamp and the pins bent. Too light duty. My trailer has about 800 - 900 lbs tongue weight. Went with the Trimax clamp and success. Much stronger. I did replace the large wing nuts with regular nuts to use a socket wrench. When tightened well, driving was night and day better. Love it. I don't leave my hitch in the receiver when not pulling a trailer. The motion I feel was when I was on the road pulling my camper. Highly recommend the TriMax clamp. Nice and beefy.

@EdM. Almost the same setup here, I’ve got the same truck and tow a Mini Lite 2504s similar tongue weight. I’m using a Blue Ox device that works well, but was hoping for something not requiring wrenches. No biggie, I’ll stick with what I have. I’ll check out the Trimax clamp though.

The Blue Ox device is what I use now and it’s quite effective. I was just curious if the other would work and be easier.

The part rusted on me. It works but was never dipped in salt water.

Hey Greg,The E-Trailer anti rattle wont work in your application. I have them on my standard receivers but I had to use the Blue Ox for my GenY setup. The e-trailer park requires a fairly large lip to grab onto.

@KeithD. Thanks, I’ve been using the Blue Ox device for several years since it does horizontal and vertical movement, but was curious about the eTrailer device because it didn’t require wrenches. I’ll just stick with what I’ve been using.

I have (3) of the New E Trailer anti rattles . I have a Diesel pusher towing a Maverick and some times just a bike rack for my E bikes. I like that you don't have to have a Wrench and taking the bolt/nuts off each time I move hitches around. Have one on my SUV, Diesel Pusher and my truck. So far ,so good.
