Looking For Replacement Tail Lights For 2003 Ranger Bass Boat 519VX Trailer

Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 02/10/2026

Question:

Replacing the original Wesbar wraparound tail lights on a 2003 Ranger bass boat 519VX. Since these are no longer made I want to replace with these. However the original wiring has 2 female plugs from the light and a ground wire. I notice the plugs on these have a male and female. What can I do? Picture of original for clarification

Hello Jay, thanks for reaching out. You're right, the Optronics # STL36RPG uses a specific 2-prong plug that matches certain factory harnesses, and from what you’re describing it does not sound like your Ranger harness uses that same style connector. Since your original Wesbar lights have two female plugs plus a separate ground, it is not going to be a true plug-and-play swap with that light.

In your case, the cleaner solution is going with something like the Optronics # TLL160RK kit. It includes both the driver and passenger side lights and they come with bare wires instead of molded plugs. That lets you cut off the old connectors and wire the new lights in using heat shrink butt connectors for a sealed, watertight connection. For a boat trailer that sees regular dunking, that is honestly the most reliable way to do it anyway.

Hey Jay, how did the wiring go with the Optronics light kit on your Ranger trailer? Your update could make it easier for others replacing those older Wesbar lights.
