Updated 02/09/2026 | Published 02/06/2026

Question:

Im looking at buying a Gen Y hitch 325-GH-506 to put on our class A motorhome. ed so the inch is going up. Will attach the tow bar to flat tow on the bottom receiver. Will put our bike rack on the top. Since Im not towing off the top receiver, is a stabilizer needed. Our rack 1 UP and 2 bikes weigh a total of 135 lbs.

Hey Todd, welcome back! The Replacement Shank item # 325-GH-506 is going to work great with your setup. It's not going to need a stabilizer. The shank has a 2,000 lbs tongue weight capacity so it'll definitely be strong enough for the weight of your bike and bike rack, in addition to your flat tow.

What kind of bikes do you have and is your 1Up bike rack rated to be used behind a motorhome? We don't carry them but I strongly recommend verifying the rack is rated for use on an RV.

Jetted, Thanks for the reply. We have “regular” road bikes (not E bikes). Our rack is rated for extreme off road and approved for use on an rv. It’s the main reason I purchased it. Great rack!
