Seek tech assist to help with purchase. Shopping hitches for new ‘26 Alliance Avenue 32RLS 5th wheel. Have 2024 Ram 3500 with 6’4 bed w OE tow package pucks. Towing a FW is new to me. Need sliding hitch I assume. Or gooseneck? Advantages with gooseneck? I’m making the hitch selection is more mysterious than I should!

Hey Jeffrey, I would be glad to help you pick out the best fifth wheel hitch for your 2024 Ram 3500 with the OEM pucks! So most of the time if the truck is a short bed like yours a slider fifth wheel hitch is needed to allow for better turning clearance without the trailer hitting the cab of the truck around corners but on newer 5th wheel campers like your 2026 Alliance Avenue 32RLS they are making the noses tapered and putting extended pin boxes on them which allows for not needing a slider hitch. This is especially truck for truck beds that are a little longer than 6 feet like what you have so you could get by with a fixed hitch.

For a fixed hitch I would recommend the B and W Companion # BWRVK3600 which is super nice. It's very well made and easy to use while also being very quiet.

Now with that said if you are open to going with a gooseneck route that's what I would go with as it is just a lot easier to deal with and you don't have a big heavy hitch in your truck bed. You will need to replace the pin box on your camper with a Reese Goose Box part # RP85FR and then you would also need a gooseneck ball part # BWGNXA2062 and you'd have a really nice cushioned setup thats just a lot easier to deal with and much quieter.

Which way are you leaning?

I'm leaning to the Goose Box. Clean bed is a plus - even more important, I've looked over many reviews with very positive tow experiences- from folks with experience! I have a gooseneck ball kit that came with the truck. I was thinking I needed a 4-5" offset, but you are saying the 32RLS nose design and extended pin box negates the need? If that is the case, I only need the Goose Box and the safety chain(s). Probably an error (I hope) but when I click part # RP85FR it has an expected deliver in November (!).

@JeffreyM Nice! Yeah my parents have one on their camper and they really like it too. I almost mentioned an offset ball too and probably should have. That would be a good idea to just help get that last bit of turning clearance. The Gen-Y offset ball part # GY83XR would be a really great option that will give you 5 inches of additional offset.
