Difference Between Air Lift AL79DQ and AL73DQ for 2023 Ford F-350 4WD

Updated 01/20/2026 | Published 01/18/2026

Question:

I have a 2023 Ford F350 4WD with a BandW Companion 5th wheel hitch.I pull a 35ft 5th wheel with a tongue weight of 2100 lbs. I see my truck calls for 2 Air lift springs, AL79DQ and AL73DQ. What is the difference between them other than price? And which one would you recommend.

Hey Tony! The kits are designed for two different vehicle configurations. The # AL79DQ is designed for single rear wheel trucks and the # AL73DQ is designed to fit the dually. Since that is the only difference between the two you will need to choose based on whether your F-350 is SRW or DRW.

I also recommend adding an air compressor like the Air Lift WirelessONE # AL25980EZ. This will allow you to adjust the air bags no matter where you're towing from the cab of your truck.

What kind of 5th wheel do you have?

Thanks Robin for the information. My truck is SRW and I pull a Keystone Reflection. I recently purchased the Air Lift Wireless One compressor system AL25980EZ. I will now order the AL79DQ air bags.

Hey Tony, you will not be sorry with the Airlift springs. I Love mine, they perform very well, I hope to add the Wireless one compressor soon. I haul a heavy cabover camper and like the ability to adjust the air individually (dual zones) so I can level the Camper/Truck, with the 5th wheel you will more than likely not need that feature (dual zones). They are super easy to install as well, best of luck sir....
