Looking For Airbags For My 2023 Chevy 2500HD With Curt Gooseneck Hitch Installed
Published 01/07/2026 >
Question:
Hi, I have a question about part compatibility. I have a 2023 2500HD Silverado, crewcab diesel. I previously installed the Curt 60642 custom underbed gooseneck hitch and it works well, no issues. I now want to add airbags to handle my 5th wheel trailer. I am within my GVWR - weighed rig on cat scale. I mainly want this to level the truck when towing, NOT for additional capacity. I have installed Firestone RideRite bags in the past and am not sure if this or the Airlift system will work due to the curt hitch I have already installed on the truck. Can you confirm which of your air bag systems are compatible with the Curt 60642? Thank you, Fred

Hey Fred,
Good news, the Firestone Ride-Rite airbag kit # F2613 is not only confirmed to fir your 2023 Chevy 2500, but also confirmed to work with that Curt hitch you have installed! The brackets do not interfere with that Curt gooseneck so these will be a great option. They offer a 5,000lb load leveling capacity and since you beat me to the "additional capacity" point you'll be set.
What kind of 5th wheel are you towing with that Chevy?

Hi Nick, Thank you for the response. I am towing a Grand Design 324MBS. It has a total length of 37' and an unloaded Pin weight of 1950 lbs. I took my fully loaded rig across a CAT Scale last summer. Front axle 5160/rear axle 6100 for a combined of 11,260 vs my GVWR of 11,350. Trailer weight was 10,260, about 1000 lbs under rated capacity. I run my rear truck tires at max PSI as well as the trailer tires. So far, two years, no issues. The truck handles the load just fine, but as already mentioned I have some squat and want to level the rig when towing. Thanks for your help! Fred
