Hello there, Stanley!

Why yes! You can use the Weigh Safe Ball Mount part # WS56KR with a hitch sleeve. If you need a sleeve as well I recommend the etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # e28JR. It may seem like a selfish plug since its our own brand but I really do like that it has the magnetic feature. It helps keep everything together when taking the ball mount in and out and helps reduce rattling.

What kind of trailer are you hauling with your Ram?

I like the weigh-safe tongue hitch with scale. It serviced the purposes I purchased it for. However I don’t know about Ford or Ram but for Chevy 21/2 “ receiver adaptor down to 2” will not work for this product however you can do a work around and purchase an aftermarket sleeve without collar and problem solved. Sometimes, problems with the sleeve and no collars is you have trouble getting the sleeve out or you forget it’s in there after you pulled out the tongue hitch. Not sure if a magnet receiver would work because the weigh-safe is aluminum. I found the scale to be fairly accurate.

I only use the weigh safe to ensure that my trailer is properly loaded, then remove it and use a standard unit to actually tow. From what I have read of other user's experiences, they verified what I thought would happen with long term exposure to weather/traveling forces placed on the unit when used continuously. I use it as a tool to provide the tongue weight and as with any scale, it should be handled with care. While it could be used to tow, it will certainly experience a reduction in the pivot necessary to provide the weight reading. Anyone who has removed a standard tow mount that has seen many months of installed exposure, whether used for towing or not has seen that road debris makes removal sometimes a difficult process. I can't see the weigh safe Ball mount's pivot not experience an impact on the calibration due to debris collecting on the top and bottom portions of the bar. Water has a way of getting into places and wreaking havoc. Having experienced a trailer dictating where the tow vehicle wants to go, I want the scale to be as accurate as possible. As for whether the sleeve will work, it should if the sleeve length is sufficient to contact the weigh mechanism.
