Question:
Will your sway control operate with a single pole connected to car?

Yes, it will Clinton. The Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems item # 17200 uses a telescoping inner bar with friction pads to fight trailer sway. You can adjust the tension with the easily accessible handle.
You will need a ball mount like the Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab for 2" Hitches item # D320 to attach the Curt Friction Sway Control item # 17200.
What kind of trailer do you have and what is your tow vehicle's year, make, and model?

I have about 2000 miles of towing our 30 foot trailer. I was using a ford f150 6.2 engine. There was a huge difference in sway control using the friction sway control with weight distribution . I highly recommend using one.

I have used the friction sway control for 2 years with my F-150 towing my R-Pod and it has worked well. I did damage a ball mount with sway control by failing to remove the sway control when backing the trailer (which it warns against doing)!

I use the sway bar without a weight distribution system and does help. It is not necessary if you do use a weight distribution system.
