How Much Clearance Do I Need for the Rough In on the Tecma Silence Plus 2G Macerating RV Toilet?

Updated 12/02/2025 | Published 11/28/2025

Question:

I current have the Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II Gravity RV Toilet with Ceramic Bowl that came with my RV. I am interested in the Tecma Silence Plus 2 standard height toilet as a replacement. I should have room as far as the exterior dimensions but its not clear to me how the drain on this would line up with the existing drain? I cant tell if that would place the new toilet too far away from the wall or if I would need to move the downpipe that goes into the black tank. Are there any videos or is there any information on how to actually do that ?

Hey Brian. The Tecma Silence Plus 2G Macerating RV Toilet item # TH34FR87SR requires 11" minimum clearance for the rough in/drain. Your current Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II like item # TH49FR only has a 9-1/2" clearance requirement for the rough in.

We don't have any videos on moving your floor flange.

How much space do you have behind your current toilet before you get to the wall?

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

For "How much space do you have behind your current toilet before you get to the wall?" - from the wall to the top of the toilet or the wall to the base of the toilet? I don't think there's a way for me to measure exactly where the pipe starts without taking the toilet off, which I really don't want to do just to measure. Thanks!

@Brian I wouldn't either. How far is the closest part of your Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II to the wall behind it?
