Question:

Hello, I am working on an RV customization for a client Started life as a forest river sunseeker. We have removed the OEM Furnace/Hot water heater and I am looking for a replacement. I do not need hot water, just furnace. Propane I will be mounting it under a bed, I would prefer not to have to cut a large hole in the external shell small hole for a vent is fine, I just dont want to cut a hole the size of the furnace Can you help me with some recommendations?

Hey Charles, we have RV furnaces like the Dometic RV LP Gas Furnace # DMC47SR that would work great but this does need to have access to outside air for combustion air intake and for the exhaust. These are all basically the same dimensions though and setup the same so if the part # DMC47SR isn't something that would work you could use something like the Camco Olympian part # CAM57351 which doesn't require venting. This wouldn't be quite as powerful though as it's rated for up to 8k btu and the Dometic is 35k.

Hey Jameson, I don’t mind installing a vent, but that unit would require a 17x7 hole correct? What about something like this? Would I only have to cute 2 small holes for the install? How can I find something similar. https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Furnace/Fogatti/FG55FR.html

@CharlesB that furnaces also requires outside venting as well. Or are you more curious about the size?

Are you reading my questions? I DO NOT MIND INSTALLING A VENT. I do not want to cut a 17x7 hole. I am looking for a propane furnace that only requires holes for a vent, or a vent plus intake. (One or two holes 3” in diameter or less)

@CharlesB Yikes sorry. Yeah if you were okay with just smaller vent holes then the Fogatti would work for you. It normally only requires a small vent plate to the outside but if you wanted to do a hose setup and you were super careful I am sure that would be just fine.
