Do you have to reset air every time you remove the hitch from truck?

Hey Jay! You do not need to completely reset the air in the air bag when you remove the # SHK23VR. However, you will have to reduce the air pressure slightly so it isn't clamped on tight. All you have to do is push in on the air valve and the weight from the tongue of your trailer will do the work for you by compressing the air bag.
