Is this wire 16 or 18 gauge. Im trying to figure out what 16/18 gauge means

Hey Mark, thanks for reaching out, and good question. That “16/18 gauge” wording throws a lot of people off.
The TowSmart 16 to 18 Gauge, 4 Conductor Wire # TS57QR isn’t all one size. It’s a 4-conductor cable with mixed gauges inside, two wires are 16 gauge and two are 18 gauge. The heavier 16 ga wires are used for higher-load circuits like tail/running lights, and the lighter 18 ga wires are used for things like turn signals or marker lights where the load is lower.
So, when you see 16/18, it just means it’s a combo cable, not that each wire is both sizes.
