Recommended Towing Parts for Pulling a Small Trailer w/a 2022 Subaru Ascent

We are looking into purchasing a small horse trailer to be towed by our SUV. Can you please tell me what all products we would need to accommodate this? Thank you!

Does your horse trailer have a 4-way connector or a 7-way connector? A 7-Way connector would indicate the horse trailer has brakes.

The SUV is a 2022 Subaru Ascent. The trailer we are looking into buying says it has an independent braking system, so I am guessing a 7-way connector? Thank you!

@DanF Thanks for the information! An independent braking system typically means surge brakes, which wouldn't require a brake controller, but I'll recommend one just incase.
