Question:
Can the Dexter 8K ABS brakes work on a 7K axle if both use 12-1/4inch drums?

Expert Reply:
Ron, they can’t - even though both the 7K # DX69WR / # DX79WR and 8K # DX55WR use 12-1/4 inch diameter drums, the 8K shoes are 3-3/8 inch wide versus 2 inch on the 7K, and the magnets sit deeper. That mismatch causes poor drum contact and throws off the ABS readings.
Do you happen to know your axle tube size? 3 inch or 3-1/2 ? That’s the easiest way to confirm before ordering.
