Recommended Tire Chains for a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse

Updated 11/21/2025 | Published 10/26/2025

Question:

We have a Chevy Traverse 2025. Our tire size is 265/65 R18. It looks like there are multiple chains to choose from. My question is, do they go on the front or the back wheels? Thank you.

Hey Werner. I checked your Traverse's owner's manual and it said that the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse can only use tire chains if you have 255/65R18 size tires. That being said, the smallest chains we have for a 265/65 R18 tire are the Konig Tire Chains item # TH01594267. You will want to mount them on the front tires according to the owner's manual.

Please note that these chains require a minimum of 1/2" of clearance around the tires.

Are you in an area where you need to use the chains regularly or are you just required to have them with you?

Thank you for the information! We do live in snow country, but have never chained up our 4 x 4's. We are required to carry them over the mountain passes.

@WernerF You're welcome! Yeah, I was genuinely curious. I recommend taking some measurements in case you actually have to use them. If not the Konig item # TH01594267 will definitely check the box if you get stopped.

I have the same vehicle and 265/65R18 tire size, and it says in the manual to "Use another type of traction only if its manufacturer recommends it for the vehicle's tire size". It doesn't seem to specify a maximum clearance requirement. For 255/65R18 tires, it says "Use low profile chains that add no more than 12 mm thickness". This makes it sound like even low profile cables wouldn't work for the 265. Am I limited to just "socks"?
