Hello Jerry, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the CE Smith Weld-On Stake Pockets # CES55WR are a bit thicker than the Curt # C83072. I went out to our warehouse and measured both.

The Ce Smith # CES55WR is 0.22" thick.

The Curt # C83072 is 0.18" thick.

They will both work with a standard 2"x4" stake.

Hey Jerry, how did the CE Smith stake pockets work out for tying down your farm tractor? Your results could really help others looking for a stronger option for heavy loads.
