Replacement for Dometic AC on 2020 Forest River Vibe RK26
Updated 10/05/2025 | Published 09/28/2025 >
Question:
We have a 2020 Forest River Vibe RK26. Air conditioner trys to start but we have to turn it off and spin the wheel cage then it starts. It will run a few times then this will happen again. We are conflicted...do we replace the capacitor or the whole air conditioner? We are selling our trailer and we need to get this fixed. If we do need to replace it which air conditioner do we buy? Says we have a brick air ll, see attached mfg , but i read they have or will be discontinuing this one and replace it with fresh jet...true or not? Thank you

Hi Joan; I would go ahead and replace the AC unit on your 2020 Forest River Vibe RK26. You can attempt to repair it but that typically isn't recommended and doesn't guarantee it will even work. All of the old R410A units have been discontinued since everything moved to R32 refrigerant following the 2025 EPA guidelines. This also means complete replacement is required since they aren't backwards compatible.
It may be a hassle but I think you can use the fact that it has a new R32 AC on it to help sell the trailer. If you let potential buyers know you have already made the switch to a new unit they can rest easy knowing they won't have to completely replace the system if a different component were to fail like the air distribution box (ADB) since those parts are also discontinued.
To help keep the cost down I recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR. This comes with the ADB, a start capacitor, and a single zone thermostat. The 15k Btu rating also matches the AC you have now.
