Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/15/2025

Question:

Hello! I have a f350 with a 9’ flatbed. The flatbed has a recessed gooseneck hitch. I’ll be purchasing a Keystone Fuzion 419 toy hauler and I am having trouble determining the right hitch for the flatbed. Can you help orient me to the right hitch which I should purchase? Thank you so much!

Hey Patrick, congrats on your new 5th wheel trailer. Since you have a recessed gooseneck hitch, unless it's a B&W the only option you have is the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter item # DM8550046. This hitch is specifically designed to attach to 2-5/16" gooseneck balls in recessed wheels. It has a 21,000 lbs and three hitch height settings of 12", 13-1/4", and 14-1/2".

Please note that the Demco Recon item # DM8550046 will only work if the gooseneck ball is 13/16" or closer to the top of the truck bed. It can not be a high rise ball. The recessed well has to be smaller than the 22" x 22" footprint of the base of the Recon.

If you have a B&W Turnoverball square receiver installed in your F-350's bed you can use the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3050 so long as your well is at least 18" x 18" and is no deeper than 4".

If none of these options work we'll need to look into swapping out your toy hauler's pin box for a gooseneck one like item # GY38FR.

What size is your F-350's recessed well? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Patrick, did you find a hitch that fits your F-350's recessed well? I'm asking because your experience could really help others in a similar situation.
