Question:

I have a CM flatbed on 2023 Chevy 2500. The ball on the flatbed is recessed beneath the top of the bed. I’m try to tow my fifth wheel camper. What do you recommend for some sort of fifth wheel to gooseneck conversion.

Hey Rob! We've got a couple of options. The easiest one is going to be to use the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball item # DM8550046. This 5th wheel hitch attaches to your Silverado's gooseneck ball and will give you 21,000 lbs capacity.

Please note that the top of the gooseneck ball must be 13/16" or closer to the top of your truck bed for the hitch to install.

Another option is to swap out your 5th wheel trailer's standard kingpin pin box for a goosebox like item # RP85FR. This option is going to be a bit more complicated but I think the best way to go. First you'll want to measure the width of your recessed well. It needs to be 15" x 15" and no deeper than 5". Second I will need you to email me a picture of the sticker on the side of your pinbox. The information on it will allow me to identify what bolt pattern your pin box currently has.

If you have any additional questions or concerns you can email me directly or comment below.

@RobB We've asked Reese about this in the past and they've told us that the recessed well needs to be at least 15" by 15" and no deeper than 5".
