Hey Cole!

The Replacement Collar Attachment Hardware Kit # RM-4800-30 is only really needed if your old hardware is worn out, so you'd be the best person to determine that, actually. Just look for any places where it might be damaged, rusted, or where the material is wearing down.

The other parts you mentioned, Repair Kit # RM-4748-10, Gas Strut # RM-200023-50, and Fabric # RM-4750-10 are the same way - it's more up to you and what shape you feel it's in.

Did something happen with your original Defender? Or is it just wearing out from use?

Thanks Jon for your rely. Here is my response to your questions: 1) Did something happen with your original Defender? Yes the gas struts broke so the fabric was just hanging down towards the road surface. 2) Or is it just wearing out from use? Yes that is pretty much the case. Its over 6 years old now and the gas struts broke while we were driving down the interstate. The fabric is getting a little tattered too. The metal frame is still good though so I decided to retrofit the total tow defender instead of buying a complete new unit for $560. Sorry about that Jon.

@Cole Oh, I totally get it! I would honestly be doing the same thing. Good luck with your repairs!
