Hi Ceemom; according to Stealth Hitches the distance from the ground to the top of the # SH48GR receiver is 9-1/2".

What do you plan on using the hitch for?

Thank you for your quick response! I am planning to use my hitch for a bike rack. I normally carry 2 bikes, but I would like to be ready to carry 3 or 4 bikes about 4 times per year to introduce friends and visitors to some truly beautiful bike paths in our area. The 9.5 inches is a little lower than some other hitches on the e trailers site, but the Stealth Hitch seems to require fewer modifications to my EV6 facia, etc. I also like the clean look with the hitch removed,. However, I am still undecided because the hole in the cover needs to be big enough to provide access to he lock. Permanent hitches can be installed with a hole just large enough for the hitch to pass through. I do have a new question: Does installation of a Stealth Hitch require removing 2 brackets that hold the EV6 panel and never replacing them or even providing an alternate support? Some YouTube videos mention this, but the instructions say something like "replace the stuff you removed in steps 1 & 2." Is it true, that the hitch bar makes it impossible to re-install two of the brackets that were removed?

@Ceemom keep in mind that is up to the top. Your ground clearance with this installed is only going to be like 6-1/2" at the rear. It does say to remove and discard the support brackets so you won't be reinstalling them. They wouldn't have you do this if it would be detrimental to the structure or functionality of the vehicle so I wouldn't get too hung up on that. I don't think anyone will notice the hole when the receiver is removed since the vehicle is so low to the ground, probably only something you will know about.

Thank you for your quick response! I plan to use it for a bike rack. I hope to occasionally use an add-on to extend my hitch to 4 bikes so I can introduce friends to some of the really nice bike paths in this area. The Stealth Hitch is 1 inch lower than some of the other choices at E-Trailer, the main bar of the Stealth Hitch is set further back under the car requiring the removal of two supports for the facia panel that sits below that bar, and it requires a large hole in the facia panel to allow space for your fingers while locking and unlocking the hitch assembly. Therefore, I decided to select one of the other hitches on the E-Trailer web-site that work with my EV6. I like the sleek look of the car with the Stealth Hitch, but I plan to use my bike rack all year so a permanent hitch is a better fit for me. E-Trailer provides the important information one needs to make an informed decision when selecting the right hitch considering one's lifestyle as well as for the specific vehicle. I found the listings, photos, videos, reviews and Q&A sections on the E-Trailer web-site very, very helpful. Thank you!
