Gasoline Powered RV Heater For Class B Motorhome In Cold Vermont Winters
Published 08/21/2025 >
Question:
My camper is a gas-powered Class B, but I’ve always heard diesel heaters are more reliable. Is the gasoline Velit just as efficient in cold temps? I'm in chilly winters in Vermont so I want best performance.

Hannah, you’ll be in good shape with the gas powered Velit RV Heater # VE46QV for sure. Both the diesel and gas Velit heaters put out the same 14,000 BTUs and are rated down to -30°F operating temp. In real-world use, the only real difference is fuel type. With a gas van like yours, the gasoline unit saves you from carrying an extra tank since you can tap off the factory fuel tank. Reliability is the same across both versions since the ignition, fans, and control electronics are identical.
Are you planning to winter camp full-time, or just extend your shoulder season?
