Blue Ox Patriot BLU37TR Red Screen On Remote Saying To Reset Brake When Driving On Bumpy Roads

Updated 09/03/2025 | Published 08/02/2025

Question:

my Blue Ox Patriot BRK2022 has been running almost flawlessly for nearly 2 years. In those 2 years however, it has self Brakedinch several times on flat gravelly roads. It sometimes will go into alarm red screen on remote saying reset brake. This occurred on gravel, somewhat bumpy roads. My question is whether the bumpy roads can cause this alarm, or is my unit starting to go bad. Also, what is causing the self braking. 2021 Thor 22HE pulling a 2023 Jeep Wrangler

Hello Rob, thanks for reaching out. Bumpy or uneven roads can definitely cause the red light and alarm on your Blue Ox Patriot # to go off. The red screen and alarm are typically due to a positioning issue with the unit. Basically bumps in the road can cause the load cell to detect pressure when it shouldn't. As of right now it does not sound like there is anything necessarily wrong with your brake unit. Just take it slow on bumpy roads. If this problem starts happening more and more frequently, or you see it happening randomly on flat roads that would be an indicator of a problem.

Hey Rob, how has your Blue Ox Patriot been performing since you started taking it slow on bumpy roads? I’m curious if the issue has improved or if you've noticed any changes, as it could help others with similar concerns.

@JesseM I lowered my sensitivity and force settings and added a seat stiffener to my patriot unit. It sets up usually on the first try now, and i haven't had any reset alarms on my current trip in new mexico.
