Question:

Is the Yakima rack and roll trailer sufficient to tow my whitehall spirit solo 14 rowboat? The boat is 14 ft long 46 inches wide and 150 lbs. Do I need to upgrade to heavy duty shocks?

Hey Anthony, thanks for reaching out!

The Yakima Rack and Roll Kayak Trailer # Y24TR is a great product, but it won't work well for your Whitehall Spirit Solo 14. For that kind of boat we're going to need to use something a bit heftier and for that I recommend the CE Smith Multi Sport Plus # CE48870 as it has bunk boards and a winch mount at the front which will do a MUCH better job at distributing the weight of your boat.

We have a handful of photos that customers have sent in with different boats mounted up on the CE Smith trailer that I recommend checking out!

Hi Jon G, Thank you for your reply. I don’t have the space to store the CE Smith trailer. I am attracted to the folding feature of the Yakima track and roll. I don’t mind modifying it to have a sling and make it beefier. Meanwhile I will continue to use the boat dolly for moving it around, and the pickup truck bed for transporting it. Have a good day. @AnthonyM The Rack N Roll trailers don't have a folding tongue, but the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129 does. Is that the trailer you're talking about?
