Is Welding or Bolting on a Trailer Coupler Easier

Question:
HI! I have a 1964 Shasta 13 trailer and want to get a new hitch coupler - Do you recommend a bolt or weld on? Are the easy directions for the bolt on?

Hey Tim, bolt on couplers can definitely be easier to install but that's only if you can find something that's an exact replacement and uses same bolt pattern. Which due to the age of your trailer I would bet that we don't have something that would bolt right up without having to redrill holes or make some changes etc. So welding a coupler on is going to be a lot easier. Is the trailer an a-frame trailer or a pole tongue? What ball size would you like the coupler to be designed for.

Hey Tim, did you decide to go with a bolt-on or weld-on coupler for your Shasta trailer? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others with similar trailers.
