Question:
Hi... I was just peering at the Furion cube and noted the lower amp draw even for the 18kBTU unit. Is this because the unit has an integrated soft start installed? Im looking to put a soft start on a regular Furrion 15.5kbtu unit and was told not to as it was presumed the unit i have is a Cube. Im considering adding a 13.5kBTU or lower unit to an unducted slot in the ceiling currently occupied by and electric fan that is the same dimensions as an AC unit. Idjust figure a way to run a 20A line down the side. It has to be external as the RV is only a 30A and some pedestals have a separate 20A plug. thanks

Hey David, great to hear from you again!
The 18K Btu like part # FR27TD does not have an integrated soft start. It doesn't need one because of the variable speed compressor.
Your 15,500 Btu Furrion unit does have a start capacitor in it so adding another to it probably won't do too much.
For your application, I recommend picking up the 13.5K Btu Furrion Chill HE # FR85TD because it comes with a wall thermostat so you're able to maintain a set temperature easier. You can run a separate power wire back to the AC Unit, but I will say that you might need to reinforce the ceiling to make sure it's strong enough to hold the AC since it will be a bit heavier than the vent.
Does that help at all?
