Features to know about

Heats Without Wasting Propane

Heating with propane brings two problems: it costs more than you think, and you're never sure if you have enough to get through the night. This rooftop unit with a built-in heat pump changes that. The heat pump uses electric power to take the edge off cold mornings, so your furnace doesn't have to do all the work. You get reliable warmth through the same ceiling assembly you use for cooling, and the more you heat with electric, the less propane you burn. It's one less system to manage, and one more reason you can camp longer without thinking about your fuel gauge.

Fewer Parts, Faster Setup, Direct Cooling

Ductless air conditioners move air straight into the RV without relying on ceiling ductwork, making them ideal for smaller rigs, retrofits, or any setup where simplicity matters. With a ductless system, what you see is what you get: a rooftop unit connected directly to a ceiling assembly that pushes steady airflow into your living space. They're also perfect for adding a second AC to areas that never cool down properly, like an upper bunk or bonus room. If your RV has no ductwork, a ductless setup gives you cooling power you can feel.

A Smarter, Future-Ready Choice

A lot's changed in RV cooling over the years, and one of the biggest shifts is what's inside the system - not just the tech, but the refrigerant itself. This model uses R-32, a newer refrigerant that cools efficiently while producing significantly less environmental impact. It's cleaner, more future-friendly, and already becoming the standard across the industry. If you're replacing an aging unit, you're not just upgrading your airflow you're upgrading what's behind it.

Video Transcript for Review of GE Appliances RV Air Conditioners - 13500 Btu Black Deluxe Ductless AC Heat Pump - GE44RR

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this GE Appliances 13,500 BTU Black Deluxe Ductless RV Air Conditioning System with Heat Pump. Now this is going to be a great option for you to consider if you're looking to upgrade or add an air conditioner system on your RV's ductless system in your small to medium sized camper. This 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to cool down the inside of your RV evenly and efficiently. And it has a built-in heat pump for those chilly mornings. Now this is going to use the more energy efficient R32 refrigerant and that is going to meet the 2025 EPA regulations.

So because it uses that new refrigerant, this is not going to be backwards compatible with any air conditioning system from 2024 and earlier. This is gonna be a bolt on installation with the included hardware that you see there on the other end of my table. This is going to fit roofs from two to six inches thick with an opening size of 14 and 3/8ths inches long by 14 and 3/8ths inches wide. And going over some measurements of our unit itself, the overall length, from end to end, is right at 32 and 13/16ths inches long. The overall width 28 and 1/8th inches wide and the overall height, right under 14 inches tall, and the unit itself weighs a little under 80 pounds.

So this is gonna run pretty quietly for you because the motor has sound dampening grommets to help reduce that annoying humming and vibration sound. And as I mentioned, this does include a heat pump and as you probably know, the heat pump actually pulls warmth from the air to heat the inside of your RVs on those chilly mornings. This is gonna be a pretty easy swap for most of your RVs. This is going to seamlessly install over your roof's preexisting roof vent opening and this unit has been built tough for the road. It features high grade materials, so they're gonna withstand extreme UV rays and that constant vibration from traveling up and down the road.

And this does feature this black, hard, automotive grade polymer shroud, which is going to protect the internal components from water, dirt, and debris. And it's gonna be very easy to remove in case you need to do any cleaning or maintenance. And the wiring harness is tucked up underneath the unit. So when you're installing this, you'll just pull the harness down through the opening of your roof and your RV or camper. When you install this, you do wanna make sure that the rear of the air conditioner is at least 18 inches away from any obstructions for proper air flow.

And taking a closer look on this corner of my table, this will include this air distribution box. It's built to handle road vibrations and everyday RV life. The overall width and length is 21 inches. And then when you have that, mounted in your ceiling, it's gonna come down or stick down about two or two and a half inches or so. So it's really not gonna take up much head clearance at all. This does include this black, single zone thermostat, and it's gonna be very easy to install on your wall with the included hardware. And as you can see here, it does have these easy to use buttons, and then a large display. It's gonna be backlit, so it's gonna be very easy to see at a glance your settings and adjust your settings as needed. And then it does include this control box, and you probably know that the control box is basically the brains of the operation. This is going to manage how your air conditioner unit functions and operates. So I mentioned the hardware, the air divider, that'll go into the air distribution box. And all of this is from the trusted GE brand, a reliable brand name that you know and are familiar with, especially with their home appliances. So you're gonna bring that trust and that reliability into your RV with this system. And we do have other systems available from GE. So if you're looking for a higher BTU rating, something that's gonna be compatible with a ducted system rather than a ductless system, like this one is, or maybe a different color of cover, we have all those other options available and more from GE here at etrailer.com. So if this isn't exactly what you're looking for, be sure to take a look at those other options. But if you decide that this is gonna work the best for you, that's great. Once you receive it, we would love to hear back from you regarding the installation and the operation and you can share your experiences with that and more, either by leaving a comment on this product page, or a review. Send us some photos of this in operation on your rig as well. We'd love to see it. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

excellent product, installation was as easy as you could get, make sure you have 12 volts at the control box as the t/stat gets its power from the control box, it only needs three wires down to the t/stat, unless you are hooking up your furnace to it then you would need five. I used this unit to replace a coleman mach 10 a/c only and its much quieter and colder with better air flow, looking forward to seeing how well the heat pump works in the cold weather, I did try it on a 55 degree morning and it worked well. Comes in two boxes and is packed very well with Styrofoam all around unit, this was installed on a Grand Design Reflection 320 MKS fifth wheel front unit. Theres no better company to deal with than Etrailer, they stand behind all their products and shipping issues.

I haven't installed the AC unit yet. I just wanted to say that the ordering process is extremely easy to complete the transaction process. Checking out of the cart is routine and completed in minutes. I was on the road traveling and decided to order the AC unit and have it delivered to my house. Checking out process has the option to deliver your order to an E-Trailer trusted agent business. I requested to have the AC unit delivered to a trusted agent near my traveling location. who work with E-trailer. The agent was extremely helpful loaded in my truck. Just waiting to get it installed this sometime this week.

  • What Air Conditioner with Heat Pump will be the Quietest on My 2016 R-Pod 171?
Hello Steve, For a 13,500 BTU air conditioner for your 2016 RPod 171, I would go with the Furrion Chill HE Low-Profile RV AC System w/ Heat Pump – Single Zone – 13,500 Btu – White – R32 # FR86AD. For the black version, use # FR76AD. At Indoor: 60 dBA and Outdoor: 61 dBA, this is going to be your quietest option. Furrion has really upped their game when it comes to making their systems quieter. They also have a new 18,000 BTU air conditioner-only unit, it’s crazy how quiet it is. What...

  • Can Dometic Duo Therm RV AC Unit be Replaced with GE Appliances Deluxe AC
Hey Keolaokalani, you can install a 15k BTU GE RV AC unit in your Coachman Catalina but you'll have to replace everything to do so with the part # GE44RR as just the top unit you mentioned is not compatible with the Dometic lower vent assembly you have now. There isn't a reliable way to mix and match AC unit upper and lower units is why.

  • Roof Top AC Unit for Enclosed Trailer with Heat Pump
Hey Chuck, the best option would be an AC with a heat pump like the GE Appliances Deluxe RV AC System w/ Heat Pump # GE44RR which was designed for 14 inch square openings like you have. It has a heat pump too which will add a little bit of heat when it's cooler out but it doesn't heat quite as well as it cools which is standard for heat pumps on AC units. This uses 110 AC power as well.

  • What Is The Difference Between GE AC GE54RR And GE44RR?
Hello Adam, thanks for reaching out. The main difference between the # GE54RR and the # GE44RR is the color of the AC unit and thermostat. The # GE54RR comes with a white AC and thermostat, while the # GE44RR comes with both parts in black. Both will work with 12v DC power. I believe the white unit is listed as slightly wider than the black unit at 27-11/16 wide versus 26-1/8" wide. We have not installed and tested one of these GE units here yet so I am afraid I cannot give you specific...

  • Availability of Plug and Play Replacement for Dometic Duo-Therm 630515
Hey Paul! Your Dometic Duo-Therm is an old R410A unit. Since everyone had to switch to R32 refrigerant due to the 2025 EPA regulations there are no plug and play replacements available. The new units aren't backwards compatible so the only option is complete replacement with a new system. Assuming you want to keep the heat pump, I recommend the GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System. You can choose from the following based on color and capacity. You will also need to know if your system...
